Down a road that's calm and peaceful, guided by God's loving hand, she has gone on a journey, to a distant brighter land, sincere and kind in heart and mind, what a beautiful memory she left behind. On Sunday, December 1, 2019, our Lord and Savior, decided that it was time to call Valerie Denise Taylor-McDaniel home from all the work and pain of this life. Val retired from the Norfolk Naval Base in June 2018. She worked as a Military Sealift Command as a GS-13 Contract Specialist (DAWIA Level III Certification FAC-C level III Certification). Val received numerous awards and accolades during her time in the Federal Government.
Val graduated from Lake Taylor High School in 1978 and attended TUI University in Cypress, CA with a Bachelor's degree in Business with a minor in Human Resources. She graduated Cum Laude.
Val was preceded in death by her mother Minnie Taylor and father Lemuel Riddick, Recent passing of her husband Pryor McDaniel on December 6, 2019. She leaves to cherish her memories, her grandchildren, and sister Jacqueline D. Taylor (Hampton), sister Sophia King (Thomas) (Norfolk), one brother James Michael Gregory (Va. Beach), and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Val was a very loving person, always willing to help others but when she wanted to rest and be alone, she knew how to take time for herself. She is gone but not forgotten.
