John Mark McCreary, age 83, of Centreville, Maryland passed away at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in DC on June 11, 2022. John was born April 6, 1939, in Greensboro, Maryland to the late Ralph and Mary (Sharpnack) McCreary. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Winegardner) McCreary, son Jonathan McCreary (Shelly), daughter Jennifer McCreary, brother David McCreary (Janis), sisters Esther Windsor (Planner) and Naomi Walp, and three granddaughters Delaney, Hannah, and Kendall.

John graduated from Greensboro High School class of 1957. He worked at Wye Nursery in Hillsboro, Maryland for over 40 years. Many of the trees and landscapes he helped plant continue to beautify Maryland's Eastern Shore.

John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who valued his faith and was considered a Godly example to those who knew him. Growing up, he attended the Denton Wesleyan Church and Denton Camp.

John was a nature lover and avid cyclist who also enjoyed hiking and kayaking, often accompanied by his children and grandchildren. He also delighted in bird watching and gardening with his wife, Barbara.

He was predeceased by his brothers Paul, Daniel, and James, and his nephew Daniel McCreary.

His family and friends will miss his kind, gentle spirit.

Services will be held Friday, June 17 at Anchor Church 620 Goldsborough Street in Easton, MD where John was a faithful member for the past 40 years. A visitation will be held from 11-12, with a funeral service immediately following.
