Nancy Elliott Stout, 89, of Salisbury, passed away June 14, 2022, at the Glenn A Kiser Hospice House. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James A. Stout, whom she married Sept. 5, 1954
Born May 21, 1933, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Mae Lineberry Elliott and Julius Alexander Elliott. She was educated in Spencer schools and a graduate of Spencer High School.
Mrs. Stout was employed in sales at Curtis Meats and later, as secretary at Stout Heating and Air, before retiring.
She was a member of Milford Hills United Methodist Church, where she was a member of United Methodist Women. She liked to travel, spend time with her family and for many years, play Canasta with a long-time group of friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Elliott and sister, Marion Elliott Peeler.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Derrick Stout and wife Terri of Garner, Mark Stout and wife Sharon of Mount Ulla, Rodney Stout and wife Teresa of Salisbury; grandchildren Jennifer, Ryan, Meagan, Keatin and Miranda; and great-grandchildren Matthew, Hudson, Keely, and Ford.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Friday (June 17) at Summersett Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11 AM in Summersett Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Steve Combs and Rev. Bill Thrailkill.

The family would like to thank Dr. Shellhorn, along with the nurses and caregivers at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, Glenn A Kiser Hospice House and Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Rowan County.
