You had been through and accomplished so much in your not nearly long enough, 66 years. And you deserve to be recognized.

Michael Lund Martin was born March 12 , 1955 to Harold James Martin Jr. and Helen Joy Lund Martin. He was the 4th of 6 boys. Before him there was Randy, Steve, and Tony. After him came Jeff and Chris. As a young boy, there was a lot of family time building 2 boats from kits. Along with a cabin that was built from the ground up with blood, sweat, and tears. I imagine there were a few fights going on with 6 rambunctious boys running around. As the boys grew, married and moved on it was difficult to maintain close family ties. While each of the boys went forward separately in life with their own families, there was a definite bond. I remember getting together at Standard Oil Pool when I was young as a family get together. There were softball games. But on a yearly basis, the check in was the Christmas Cookie party held on Christmas Eve.

Mike met his future wife in 9th grade seminary class and from then on, it was just them. Mike and Esther had 3 children born to them. Amy, Jason and Ben. While their family was being raised, we went on a lot of camping trips. A few favorite spots were Payson Lake and The Spruces Campground. We also spent a lot of time on the Pineview and Echo Reservoirs boating. We enjoyed playing games together.

Mike was an extremely hard worker. Completely devoted to being the best provider for his family that he could be. He had a few shorter lived jobs in the beginning but most of his career was spent with Consolidated Freightways, where he met and maintained some of his closest friendships. As a local delivery driver he was home every day with his family. After CF declared bankruptcy and threw everything there to the wind, Mike moved on to work at Yellow Transportation. He had served his time working the cold docks, the graveyard shifts, loading and unloading the stifling hot trailers, yet when he found himself at Yellow, he had to go to the bottom of the barrell, and face all of that once again. He took it with stride and retired from trucking a few years later. He then turned a new leaf and began a second career of sorts as a shuttle driver for Larry H. Miller Chevrolet. Again his dedication and drive shone through. He had regular people but with even one shuttle ride with him you would leave with a new friend. Mike worked for LHM Chevrolet for about 15 years.

Some of the things Mike was best known for, a skilled and talented wood worker, a man of many skills, a true friend, his knowledge of music, someone who was always there to support and to help, someone who valued relationships and would just stop by often just to say hello, someone who wasn't afraid to think out of the box in order to get a task completed. But, what Mike would be most remembered by would be his selfless, committed love and care of his son Ben. They were 2 parts to 1 whole. For 40 years, day in and day out Mike devoutly cared for and loved his son. Ben requires 24/7 care. And if our Dad was around, Ben was with him. Ben's favorite place was sitting in our Dads lap lightly pulling on his arm hairs or stroking his beard. There are not enough words to describe what the 2 of them had together and what a void Mike's passing will leave for Ben.

Mike had many struggles in this life. He suffered many years with debilitating psoriatic arthritis and major back pain. He had to have several back surgeries, as well as both knees replaced. He also fought through several life threatening health issues including Mersa, Pneumocystic Pheumonia, Cellulitis, and Spinal Meningitis. In the end he fought but was unable to beat Necrotizing Fasciitis, which is a fast spreading soft tissue infection.

Something that Mike was extremely proud of and very well should of been was of Generations Ridge. This was a family property, near Echo Reservoir that was built out of nothing but a couple acres of land, full of sagebrush and rock. And what he was able to create was a special place full of potential for building lasting memories with those he loved. It was his dream and he made it a great place where his dedication showed through.

Mike was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He valued and honored his priesthood.

Mike was a Dad to 3, a Grandpa to 6 and a Great Grandpa to 5. And loved each of them deeply. That love was returned from each of us as well.

Dad, you will be missed so much. But at the same time, I'm so happy for you in that you are no longer in any physical, mental, or emotional pain. Its only been a few weeks but you are in my thoughts nearly always. I will look forward to a wonderful reunion with you when my time comes.

There is so much more that could be said, but doesn't need to be. I hope you know how important, how special, how cared about and loved you were and always will be. Watch out for those you have left behind. I'll love you forever My dad
