GEORGE HARRIS

George Harris was a son of Gibson Harris and his wife Phebe Denison. George married first 15 Aug. 1749, New London, CT, to Sarah Hubbard, daughter of Isaac Hubbard and his wife, Hannah Goodrich. Sarah died in CT, 8 Dec. 1757. She is buried at Ancient Cemetery, New London, New London Co., CT. Her gravestone reads wife of Mr. George Harris; died in her 23 year. George married second 3 Dec. 1760, Norwich, CT, to Anna Lathrop.

George Harris was among the first to settle in Canaan, NH, along with his brother, Daniel Harris, in 1767. George served on the Town of Canaan council for many years. He gave patriotic service during the Revolutionary War, supporting the troops in their fight for the freedom of our country.
