Shirley received her formal education through the Marion County Public Schools. She attended Dudley Cosmetology School, University of South Florida School of Engineering, Real Estate Agent, Instructor of Cosmetology and Law Enforcement School. Shirley was a member of Striving For Perfection Ministries in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She was a Sunday School Teacher, an Engineer and Law Enforcement Officer. Ras was the owner and operator of Raspberry's Glory Beauty Salon in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Shirley loved reading the Bible. Some of her hobbies included singing, eating seafood and doing hair everywhere she went. She was funny and had a sense of humor.
Ras was a cherished, loving and nurturing mother of three children. She leaves to cherish her memories a son, Tony Alan Harkness, Jr. of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and two daughters, Mary Bernicia Wisdom Harris of Atlanta, Georgia and Charity Destiny Harris of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Ras was also an amazing grandmother of two grandsons: Terrance "Lil Tony" Anthony Harkness and Bentley Rodriguez. She also was a very loved sister, leaving behind two brothers, Jesse L. Gillans Jr. and Lorenzo Gordon; four sisters, Lois "Nene" Bennett Woods-Hill, Joyce "Ann" Bennett Autry (Earl), Shervon Thomas (Wayne), and Lozell Bennett. Ras also leaves behind aunts and uncles who loved her dearly: Maya Evelyn Speed, Vera Robinson (David), Lentean Beard (Beauregard), Council Simmons, Wilma Mobley, Bernard Robinson, Henry Mobley Jr., and Freddie Mobley. Three Godchildren: Reico Jackson, Reginald Woods Jr. Her friend and former spouse, Iredell William Harris. Ras also leaves behind to mourn her loss, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends that will miss her dearly.
