BAR HARBOR — Brian William Harding, 26, born Nov. 25, 1987, in Bar Harbor, son of Dale W. and Christine L. Nichols Harding, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, in Bar Harbor.

Brian was a man of many talents and aspirations. He loved his family, especially his, soul mate, Aleta McKeage. Brian was looking forward to earning his one hundred-ton Master Mate's license and working in Belfast at a local boatyard. He was working hand-in-hand with his father doing electrical work. They were a great team and Dale often said that, "Brian was his best helper." Brian always seemed to know what his Dad needed when they were on the job. Everything Brian did he did full-out; nothing was half-way. Every activity, every emotion he lived 100 percent or nothing. If you saw Brian, you probably saw him with backpack on and dressed for the occasion or activity. If he was skiing, he had the ski boots, hat, mask, jacket, etc. If he was going to a party or special occasion, he wore a suit. Hair was just right, socks and shoes coordinated with the outfit. We will always miss Brian's smile, intelligence, compassion and laughter.

Brian is survived by his mom and dad of Bar Harbor; and his best friend and soul mate, Aleta; his sister and brother-in-law, Meagan and Derek Murphy; his brother, Sean; and his sister, Holly, whom he simply adored. He is survived by his nieces, Anneliese and Lilia Murphy; aunt, Jennipher Nichols and her partner, Brian Leighton; uncles, Leroy, Raymond, and Percy Harding Jr.; great-uncles, Roger W. and Michael F. Nichols and their families; his paternal grandparents, Erlene and Percy Harding; maternal grandmother, Idella Nichols. He is also survived by his lifetime friend and, "brother," Eric St. Denis; "sister," Katie Leighton; adopted brother, William DeLaittre; cousins, Ian Stanley and Andrea Eaton; along with much family and special friends far too numerous to name individually. Brian was predeceased by his grandparents, Jerry and Marie Nichols; and aunt, Cara J. Nichols.

A celebration of Brian's life will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Somesville Union Meeting House, Main Street, Somesville. Because Brian was passionate about bicycling and was planning on participating in the 2014 ride, we are asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Trek Across Maine, American Lung Association, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330. Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com.
