DEATH OF MORT.IMER HUNT

Saturday occurred the funeral service of Mortimer Hunt. an
aged resident of Glenwood. Rev. Kline preached the sermon and conducted the services at the
house and the interrment was made in Grand View cemetery. A brier history of his long 1ife is as follows: Mortimer Hunt was barn in Erie County. N.Y. in the year 1823 on October 5th and at some time after moved to Illinois and in
Ogle county met and married Miss Cathrine Hess, May 25th, 1851, remaining there four years when they moved to Tana county Iowa where they lived for twenty-five years after which they moved into Sioux County same state where his wife died in April 6, 1890. Eleven children were born to them, of whom seven are now living-- five sons and two daughters. one daughter. Mrs. Cbristerferson, was present at the funeral, also four sons, two of whom live near Moritz. Mr. Hunt came to this county in 1896 and purchased what is known as the Shaw farm near Gary and afterward disposed of it and purchased the farm on which he died. He sustained considerable damage by the tornado that passed through this county
soon after and narrowly escaped with his life. Mr. Hunt evidently did not have the advantage of a liberal education but was intelligent and well informed as he was an extensive reader. He left writings which show that he was a close student of the 'Bible and had read that book extensively. While a resident of this county his advanced age had kept him from public activities yet he was respected for his upright business qualities and for his many virtues as a kind neighbor and. friend.
His exact age was seventy-nine years, ten months and twenty days.
