NEWTON…Mrs. Debbie Ward Watson, a resident of Newton, died Saturday morning, June 11, 2022, at her home. She was 59. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 17, 2022, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380. Debbie, daughter of the late George Seaborn Ward and Ida Mae Brown Ward, was a native of Abbeville, Alabama and moved to Headland at an early age. She was a 1981 Graduate of Houston County High School in Columbia. Debbie formerly lived in Dothan and Headland before moving to Newton. She was retired from Home Oil Company as a store manager. Debbie was a member of the Newton United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Wayne Ward and John Edward Ward; mother-in-law, Jean Maddox Watson. Surviving relatives include her husband, Lennie Watson, Newton; four children, Kenny Lee Ward, Rehobeth, Shanna Shay Cook (Barry), Puyallup, WA; Jonathan Andrew "Andy" DeWitt, Dothan, and James Leland Dutill, Ashford; two stepchildren, Dawn Webb (Joe), Milton, FL and Jeanie Brown (Wesley), Enterprise; three brothers, George Ward, Dothan, Bobby Frank Ward (Teresa), Montgomery, and Roy Robert Ward, Kinsey; ten grandchildren, Lydia Sharp, Olan Cook, Mason Cook, Levi Cook, Ella Cook, Reese Waters, Charley Webb, Maddie Webb, Jalynn Watson, Aaliyah "Ray" Sims; relatives from the Watson Family, CJ Watson (Chief Petty Officer, Retired, United States Navy), Newton, Dennis Watson (Chief Petty Officer, Retired, United States Navy) and wife, Pam, Josie Community, Wesley Watson (Sherri), Newton. Serving as active pallbearers will be James Watson, Jonathan Watson, Casey Watson, Andy DeWitt, Barry Cook, and Michael Montgomery.
