Amos was a business owner and mechanic. Moved to Panama City, FL in 1925 and worked as a mechanic at Nelson Buck Company. Later owned and operated Howard Motors. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II with the Seabees. Member of the Hiland Park Baptist Church. Amos Howard, along with the President of Gulf Community College, established the GCCC Foundation in 1967. He was also an Honorary Executive Director and a life-time member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
