Mr. Edward F. Wheeler, age 80 of Jackson, Georgia passed away April 3, 2014. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Frank and Mildred Butler Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bernard, Lamar and James Wheeler. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Eddie was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and was a Mason. He was a glazier for Local 1940 for 44 years. He enjoyed building bird houses, fishing, baseball, NASCAR, working on his '69 Mustang and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Sue Wheeler; children, Jo Ann (Ron) Lewis of Jackson, Ernest (Denise) Wheeler of McDonough, Larry (Susan) Wheeler of Flovilla, Ricky (Carla) Wheeler of Griffin; eight grandchildren, three step grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Setser of Norcross and Edna Rodgers of Oglethorpe. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Roy Hammond and Rev. Mike Farmer will officiate. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro. Friends may visit the family Saturday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
