John C. Huff's amateur radio call sign, KE4WT, was silenced on Thursday, June 9, 2022, when he passed away at the age of 79.

Son of the late Floyd and Molly Huff, John was born in Joplin, MO, but spent much of his younger years in San Antonio, TX. In 1961, he graduated from San Antonio Vocational and Technical High School and began a career in Civil Service at Kelly AFB, TX the next year. In the midst of his young adult days, John met his beloved wife, Billie Jo and they were happily married in 1964.

After a successful stint in Civil Service as an electronic mechanic, John made the decision to serve his country in an "active duty" capacity. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1966 where he was proud to live and work aboard the USCGC Reliance for four years. Following his time in the Coast Guard, John returned to Civil Service at Kelly AFB for a few years before transferring to Robins Air Force Base, GA in 1973. He continued an accomplished career in Civil Service where he excelled in the Quality Assurance field until retiring after 40 years of service.

John's favorite pastime was operating Amateur (Ham) Radios. He held an advanced class license and was happy to communicate with fellow operators. John also enjoyed geocaching, taking road trips and traveling with his daughter, Zanna.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jo Scrimpsher Huff; and his sister, Patricia Sand.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Zanna McNeil (Arjen Bos) of Atlanta, GA; brother, Mike Huff (Mary Jo) of San Antonio, TX; nieces and nephews, Tim Huff (Shelly), Darcy Huff, Shawna McDaniel (Rodney), Rhonda Sand, Allison Brown (Phillip) and Lynda Huffman; and a number of other loving extended family members.

John will be laid to rest next to his wife with a graveside funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
