Russell Smith a resident of Fyffe, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Marshall Medical Center North. He was born May 21, 1948 in Booneville, Kentucky. Whenever he met a new person he proudly would say "I was born and raised in the mountains of Kentucky". His education started in a one room schoolhouse until the 5th grade when his family moved to Northern Kentucky.

In the 5th grade he first met his wife of 55 years, Sandra Darlene (Chinn) Smith. They married in the summer of 1967. Their family grew with six children. Russell worked for Cincinnati Bell for 18 years before moving to Florida. His proudest accomplishment was being an EMT and Instructor in KY. He worked with volunteer fire departments as a fireman and EMT. He assisted three counties to establish their own ambulance services and taught numerous EMT's. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, trading knives and farming and was always meeting new people.

Russell is survived by his wife Darlene: Six children: Timmy (Sarah), Mark (Heather), Tina (Shawn), Steve, Dianna, and Cathy (Daniel). He has 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. All children were his greatest love. He is also survived by one Brother: Donald (Gwen), three sisters, Naomi, Janet (Bob), Patty (Gary), sister-in-law, Gina (Bill), brother-in-laws, Darrell Wayne (Tina) and Leroy. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Russell's wishes were for cremation with no services. He only requested a family/friend gathering to celebrate life which will be held at his son's farm in Arab, Alabama on Saturday, June 11th at 2pm. The family with hold a celebration of Life in Northern KY at a future date.
