John L. Moore, 80, passed on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Born December 13, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was the son of Lawrence C. Moore and Rosemary (Klein) Moore who preceded him in death.

Graduating in 1959 his class was the last class to graduate from Shield High School. In 1961 he enlisted in the Indiana National Guard. In 1965 he graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Accounting and Business Administration. The same year he began his career with National Veneer and Swain Industries becoming the Chief Financial Officer. In 1971, he opened the first dine-in pizza restaurant in Seymour, the Pizza Palace. This past year the Pizza Palace celebrated its 50th Anniversary.

In 1959 he married Dianna Louise Ferris who preceded him in death.

On November 24, 1982, he married Dena Cobble in Seymour, Indiana. She survives.

His children are Amy (John) Napariu, Daniel Moore, Jonathon (Tracie) Moore, Jason (Kelli) Moore. His stepchildren are Carolyn (Kevin) Vonderwell and Jason Cobble. Grandchildren are Stephanie Burton, John Burton, Charles Moore, Alivia Moore, Emily Ritchie, Jake Ritchie, Mitchel Cobble, Max Vonderwell, Noah Vonderwell, Zachary Moore, Jacob Moore, Logan Moore, Skylar Moore, and great grandson Darnell Moore Jr. His five sisters Julia Schroer, Susie Moore, Marilyn Hawn (Mike Boley), Elizabeth Fleetwood, Geraldine Steinwedel Moore.

Besides his parent, he is preceded in death by his son Jason Moore, his brother Phil Moore, and brother's-in-law Tom Fleetwood and Michael Schroer.

One of his wonderful childhood memories was spending summers with his grandparents at Silver Lake, Indiana. Wanting his own children and grandchildren to experience that, they lived at Brownstown Lake & Forest Club for many years.

John's greatest sports passion was golf. He got the thrill of a hole-in-one on one of the longest holes of Seymour Country Club Golf Course in 1984 and won the Club Championship that same year.

He was a 59 year member of the Fraternal Order of Elks. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Seymour Country Club, K of C, American Legion, and past president of Jay Cees. He enjoyed the "morning prayer group" with his friends and he was the last surviving member.

A celebration of John's life is planned on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 11am with Deacon Larry French officiating. Friends and family may visit Sunday June 12 from 4pm to 7pm, and Monday June 13 at 10am until time of service at Voss and Sons Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Riverview Mausoleum.
