Walter D McNamara III, 75, of Red Bank TN passed away peacefully Thursday June 9th, 2022 at home with his loving wife Nancy by his side.

He was a 1965 graduate of Red Bank High School. He was also known to friends and family as Dub or Mac. Walter bravely served his country in Vietnam, in the U.S. Army. During his time there he was a part of the 25th Infantry Division and arose to the rank of Sargent (E-5). He defended our nation in Vietnam earning several awards and medals for his valiant service. Walter later transferred to the Army Reserves to finish out his time of service. He is retired from Astec after 42 years of dedicated service as an Electric Shop Foreman. Walter was also huge fan of The Tennessee Vols and watched them faithfully and with great enthusiasm.

In addition to his parents Walter and Beverly McNamara, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Tere McNamara.

Walter is survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy. Step-daughter, Tammy Atchison of Franklin TN; stepson, Sewell T Brown (Liz) of Kingsland, GA; Brothers, Fred (Judy) and Craig McNamara; step-grandchildren, Suzi and John Clune as well as Debbie and Nick Ebey; niece, Madison (Zack) Farrow; nephews, Fred (Kandy) and Brent (Kim) McNamara, Clay (Jessica) Lee; several great nieces and nephews and dear friends Pete and Carolyn Thomas.

A Celebration of life visitation will be held Thursday, June 16th 2022 from 9:30am until 11:30am at Hamilton Funeral Home. We will have a prayer at 11:45am followed by burial at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 12:30pm with military honors.
