Lewis Leland Boone of Sandy, Utah, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the age of 79. After several months of declining health, Lewis died peacefully surrounded by loved ones in his home.

Lewis was born in Smith's Grove, Kentucky and is the second of 10 children born to Geneva Smith.

He and his family were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was 12 years old. Lewis helped build the first chapel in Bowling Green, Kentucky for The Church. Lewis moved across the country to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1959 at the age of 17. He served an LDS mission in Germany from 1962 to 1964.

Lewis met Claudia Karren prior to his mission, wrote her on his mission, and shortly after he returned, they were married on March 18, 1965. They had five children and now have 19 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Lewis received his Master's degree from the University of Utah in Social Work and was a licensed clinical social worker for 40+ years helping many people improve and strengthen relationships. Lewis was a hard worker who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, motorcycle rides, rockhounding, going to garage sales, and woodwork.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents Geneva Katherine Smith Boone and Lawrence Herbert Boone, his sister Leta Kay Boone, brothers Danny and David Boone, and grandchild Joseph McKay Boone.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 11:00 am at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary in Millcreek, Utah. All are invited.
