She was born in Douglasville, Georgia on August 26, 1942, to the late William and Ruby Hunter New.

She is preceded in death by her husband Buford West.
Gloria, or Sue as she was known by, treasured her friends, family, and her two beloved dogs, Poppi and Pepper. Her hobbies included crochet, reading, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and spoiling her grandchildren. Her time as a grandmother (aka GiGi and Grandma Sue) brought her so much joy. She, in turn, brought so much joy to Alexis, Eric, and Emma. Those closest to her loved and admired her for her strength through great sadness after the loss of her beloved husband, Buford, at such a young age. All who loved Sue take solace in knowing Sue and Buford are at peace and together again.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Sue, donations can be made to the following causes that were dear to her heart: All animals, in particular giraffes and dogs.
