My Aunt Gertie was in and out of a nursing home toward the end of her life. She would spend a month or two in the nursing home and then come home again. When she was back in the nursing home again Uncle John would visit her every single day. One time when he was there he was extraordinarily tired. Well, no one will care if I just lay down with her, he thought. And even though he knew it was against the rules, he did. He laid right next to her in her nursing home bed with all his regular clothes on. He fell asleep. He had a dream where he clearly saw Gertie..but she was beautiful and young again. She was tan from working in the fields. She is about 30 in the dream and wearing work clothes, a plaid shirt. The sun was warm in his dream and the air moved through her dark curly hair as she turned to face him. She smiled and said "I'm going home, Johnny" and with that he opened his eyes right then and he knew she was gone.
