Mrs. Foster was born in 1924 in Detroit, Texas, the daughter of Lewis and Arene McCormack. She married Emmet Franklin Foster of Bogota, Texas, in 1942. She was a member of Parkside Baptist Church and attended the Pathfinders class.
She was City Clerk and City Manager's Secretary in San Dimas, California, for 17 years before moving back to Texas following retirement.
Surviving are husband of over 78 years, Frank Foster, son Rick Foster and his wife Wendy of Walla Walla, Washington, daughter Pamela Tarango of Santee, California, daughter Terri Scott and her husband Brad of Durant, Oklahoma, grandchildren Michelle Jansick and her husband Jeff, Bryan Tarango, Jody Washburn and her husband Chad, Tobi Goff and her husband Michael, Justin Scott and his wife Paige, and Jake Scott and his wife Shannon. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Kayt Goff, Foster Scott, Kyli Goff, Danielle Foster, Emmett Scott, Oaks Scott, and by one sister, Syble Self of High Ridge, Missouri. Vernelle was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
