William Howard Schneider, 90, passed away at home on June 8, 2022, surrounded by family. Bill was born in Chillicothe, OH on July 19, 1931 to the late Edward Joseph Schneider and Helen Elizabeth (Herlihy) Schneider. He later moved to Columbus with his parents, graduating from Rosary High School then joining the U.S. Navy in 1951. He served aboard the USS Shadwell as a Pipefitter Class "A" until honorably discharged in 1954. That same year he married Ann Ellen Sprouse, better known as Mickey. A member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Union Local 189, he was employed by the Julian Speer Company/Mechanical Services as an HVAC Service Technician. After 30 years, he retired to Millersport, OH then to Fort Myers Beach, FL where he and Mickey enjoyed a wonderful 17 years. His favorite beachside hangout was Pete's Time Out where he was affectionately nicknamed "Bayside Bill." A quiet, gentle man with a quick wit and dry sense of humor, Bill was delivering one-liners up to the end when he finally decided he was "good to go."
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by Mickey, his loving wife of 62 years; and two sons, Andrew Keeley and John Edward; his son-in-law, Ron Jones, and granddaughter, Lindsay A. Jones. He also was predeceased by siblings Rosalind Musselman, Edward Joseph Schneider, Jr., and Helen Elizabeth Holcomb, as well as Charles Young who was more of a brother than a nephew.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Pius X Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and sent to the church. Inurnment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
