The eldest of 7 children, Aleena Sofia House was born to Marshall Monroe and Emmaline House in Eden, Iowa. The family moved to Belvidiere Nebraska when Aleena was about 4 years old. Her father was a well educated man, and held council member status in Hebron during this time. He started to practice law so after this and became an Attorney. While he made great strides for his community, there came a period of time in which the Houses were ousted from Hebron. They moved from there when Aleena was around 14 years old to Culbertson Nebraska. During this time, Aleena was a good student and excelled at academics. She graduated and then became a teacher in Culbertson. Aleena met G.W. Daniels, a prominent merchant in Culbertson and the surrounding area, that had recently went through the death of his first wife, and was raising his daughter Ella, alone. They soon wed on March 3rd, 1886. However, soon tragedy would strike G.W. Daniels again. On the evening of December 26th, just the day after Christmas, Aleena fell extremely ill, with what doctors at the time called "Abdominal Inflamation". She only made it from Thursday evening until Monday morning with her condition before she succombed. Given the quickness and severity, it could be speculated that it was appendicitis. Regardless, the world lost a bright, shining light on January 3, 1887, only 9 months after being married and at only the age of 20 years old, 8 months, and 15 days, as is scribed on her phenomenal headstone.
