James Lee Clark, 72, of Lafayette, IN, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at IU Methodist Hospital.

Born on April 21, 1950 in Peru, IN, he was the son of the late Jerry and Dora (Lytle) Clark.

Jim graduated from Maconaquah High School in 1970 where he was on the basketball team and a member of the M-Squad Poet's Club.

He went on to join the USMC Corps and was active from 1970-72 then transferred to the Air Force Reserves until 1976.

Jim worked for various places over the years. At one time, he had a window washing business and cleaned a lot of windows in the Lafayette area and met a lot of people through that.

Jim was a proud member of the Navy Club Ship 12 in Lafayette. He was also a life member of the DAV. When he was able to get around better he attended the First Christian Church in Lafayette. A few years ago, he ran unsuccessfully for County Commissioner. In 2018, he was able to go on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Despite his 2009 stroke that caused him to lose function to the left side of his body, James did not let that slow him down. You may of recognized him riding his mobility chair around town visiting at the places he loved. He enjoyed making up his own jokes and telling them to everyone he could. He also enjoyed creating writings, sayings and wisdom pieces he would share with his friends and he enjoyed developing marketing strategies for local businesses and politicians.

He is survived by his cat, Grey Sox, who has a new loving home; and his friends at the Navy Club, Stone Crest Apartments and Fisher Funeral Chapel.

James is preceded in death by his sister, Bobbie Brooks.

A funeral service that James has been planning and talking about for many years will be held at Fisher Funeral Chapel in Lafayette on Monday, June 8, 2022 at 1 PM with visitation being held one hour prior. Burial with military honors will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
