Leslie "Les" Wayne Wiles, age 69, of Coon Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 at his home.

A celebration of life reception will be held from 2 – 4 P.M. on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the Whiterock Conservancy Burr Oak Visitors Center near Coon Rapids hosted by his family.

A private graveside service will be held at the Orange Township Cemetery, south of Coon Rapids in Guthrie County, at a later date.

Les was brought into this world on April 9, 1953 at the Still Osteopathic Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, as the first born son to Glenda Lee (nee Weaver) and John Richard Wiles. As a child, and in his early teens, Les lived in several states but eventually traveled to California to join the Navy. Later in life, Les met the woman he would fall deeply in love with, Angella Mary Shirbroun. They were married on June 7, 1974 at the United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. Les and Angie would have celebrated 48 years of marriage on Tuesday, June 7. Les enjoyed fishing and hunting trips, and tinkering with just about anything and turning it into a masterpiece. He was a jack of all trades, but most of all he was a proud and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Les is survived by his wife Angie of Coon Rapids, his children and their families: son Kaleb Wiles of Coon Rapids, son Israel Wiles (Jackie Keasey) of Guthrie Center, Iowa and daughter Jordan Wiles (Kelly Burton) Charles City, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Tristan Wiles, Whitney Wiles, Josiah Herridge, Gabriel Wiles, Skye Staffan, Pacey Burton, and Presley Burton; his step-father Robert Tuttle Sr. of Winterset, Iowa; two brothers: Mike Wiles (Ruth) of Ankeny, Iowa and Dusty Tuttle (Michelle) of Winterset; a sister-in-law: Gloria Dahl (Todd) of rural Bayard, Iowa; two brothers-in-law: Kerry Shirbroun of Coon Rapids and Kendall Shirbroun (Paulette Albright) of Guthrie Center; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Les was preceded in death by his parents John Wiles and Glenda Tuttle; his father and mother-in-law Merle and Sherrill Shirbroun; a sister Julia Bardwell; a brother Rusty Tuttle; his cousin Norman Spencer; a sister-in-law Vicki Shirbroun, and his daughter Shiloh Wiles in 2000.

The Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home of Coon Rapids assisted the family with arrangements.
