Dorothy Mae Carter, 92, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at her home in Nicholasville. She was born in Jessamine County on October 14, 1929, to the late Morris Carter and Flossie Mae Stinnett. She worked at many places throughout her life, including Thompson's Foodtown, Hemphills Pharmacy, and Norris Industries. She was not only a member of the Nicholasville Christian Church, but she also loved UK Basketball and her garden, where she grew flowers and vegetables. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Bettie Humphrey, and her niece, Wanda Humphrey. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, William Selby Carter, and her nephew, William Douglas Carter. Services will be at 12:00 PM, Thursday, June 9, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Lon Oliver officiating. Bearers will be Dwight Willis, Ed Lee, David Oliver, Mike Bowlin, Tom Welch, and Tasha Bowlin. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Betts & West is honored to serve Dorothy and her family in their time of need.
