Billy Joe "BJ" Cogburn, 82 of Mountainburg, AR passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022 in a local hospital.
BJ was born December 5, 1939 in Fort smith, AR to the late Jess Otha and Dora Mae (Hampton) Cogburn.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Otha Gene Cogburn and a nephew, Bobby Whitaker.

He was an oil field worker for 20 years, a 24 year SFC Army veteran, serving 4 tours in Vietnam, a commercial driver for 10 years, an Alma Public School bus driver for 5 years, a member of New Heights Baptist Church, a 32degree member of F&AM 332 Clear Creek Masonic Lodge and also a member of F&AM 429 Fine Springs Masonic Lodge.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Ocker Chapel of Alma with interment in U. S. National Cemetery with full military honors. Pastor Jimmy Morrison will be officiating. Services are under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

Survivors include his wife, Corette Cogburn of the home; daughters, Angie Morrison and husband Bradley of Rudy and Brenda Scott of Bay City, TX; sons, Kenny Pixley of Rudy and Billy Cogburn, Jr. of AR; brothers, Bobby E. Cogburn of Mt. Home, AR and Thomas Cogburn and wife, Dorothy of Boyce, LA; granddaughter, Sophie Morrison and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends that were like family.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Pixley, Brad Morrison, Chuck Evans, Jim Casey, AJ Collins and Randy McClendon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Carter, Don Lafarlette, Joe Lewers, Bobby Walls, Ronald Walls and Mark Beckworth.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, June 8, 2022 at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma, 917 Hwy. 64 East, Alma.
