James Leon Hicks, age 69 years, of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, died Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

He was born in Bee Rock, Kentucky on September 22, 1952 the son of Jim and Audell (Vanover) Hicks. Leon had worked as a Bus Driver for the McCreary County School System and an equipment operator for the McCreary County Road Department. He enjoyed mowing grass, walking, and being with family.

His parents; brothers, James Leonard Hicks and Donald Lee Hicks; and sisters, Maude Alma Hicks and Norma Jean Hicks precede him in death.

Survivors include his brother, Elmer Hicks and wife, Elva of Parkers Lake, Kentucky; sisters, Oshie J. "Geraldine" Hicks and Ada Wila Dean Hicks both of Parkers Lake, Kentucky; nephew and nieces Chester Hicks (Frannie), Rebecca Wilson (Shannon), Aliesha Wilson, Megan Kidd (Justin "Tater" Taylor), Cyndi Kidd, Jayden and Darien; companion, Cynthia Hicks; and Cynthia's children, Sandra Kidd and Michael Wright (Lynn).

Funeral services will be held 2pm Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmie Vanover officiating. Burial will follow in the Higginbotham Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6pm Monday, June 6, 2022 at the Funeral Home.
