Mark Douglas Pearce, Sr., 60, of Metairie, Louisiana went to his heavenly home on June 2, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. Mark was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on April 4, 1962 to Dr. and Mrs. Frank Pearce III. When Mark was one year old, his family moved to Alexandria, Louisiana.

Mark is preceded in death by his infant son, Seth Pearce, and by his parents, Dr. Frank Pearce III and Marie Elise Schaaf Pearce.

Mark is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 38 years, Theresa "Duby" Pearce, son, Dr. Mark Pearce, Jr. (Andrea), grandsons, Simon and Wyatt Pearce, sister, Barbara Pearce Bailey (Michael), brothers, Dr. Bennett Pearce (Dawn) and Dr. Craig Pearce (Leah), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mark was a mentor, inspiration, and father figure to many in life. Though he was often the smartest person in the room, he was blessed with natural humility and kindness. These qualities endeared him to and allowed him to learn from others.

A 1980 graduate of Bolton High School, Mark continued his education at LA Tech University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1984. Mark began his engineering career designing pumps at Bingham Willamette in Shreveport. In 1985, Mark became a mechanical engineer for CLECO. He obtained his Professional Engineer license in 1989. That same year Mark enrolled at LSU Law School earning a Juris Doctorate in 1992. Mark graduated from LSU Law School as a winner of the Robert Lee Tullis Moot Court competition and a member of the LSU Law School Hall of Fame and Law Review. Mark began his legal career in 1992 at Stafford, Stewart, and Potter in Alexandria, became a partner and stayed until 2002. Mark was recruited by CLECO in 2002 and became General Counsel.

Mark was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Louisiana State Bar and Louisiana Middle, Eastern and Western Districts of U.S. District Court. During his 27 years as an Attorney, he served on many boards including: Prevent Child Abuse of Louisiana (Director), Louisiana Chapter of the Energy Bar Association (Board of Directors), American Bar Association, Association of Corporate Counsel, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, Association of Corporate Counsel Panel Member, Energy Bar Association. His presentations included: Careers in Energy Law, Panel Discussion Series Association of Corporate Counsel Foundation, The State of The Legal Profession, Diversity and inside and outside Counsel Relationships. He valued his many and diverse professional relationships.

Honoring Mark's memory will be the following pallbearers: Marcus Augustine, Steven Burgin, BJ Carlin, Dr. Ben Pearce, Jr., Cullen Pearce, Ben Russo, Jason Tibbett, and Dr. Chad VanAsselberg.

Honorary pallbearers are: Michael Bailey, Alexandria Mayor Jeff Hall, Dr. Bennett Pearce, Dr. Craig Pearce, and Thurman VanAsselberg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Memorial Baptist Church at 5701 Veterans Blvd. Metairie, Louisiana, 70003.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm and Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 9:00am to 10:00am at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home 701 Jackson Street Alexandria, LA 71301. Funeral service will be Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 10:00am officiated by Pastor Dan Pritchett with burial immediately following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball.
