Vivian Hassie "V W" Wheeler, 90, of Spotsylvania went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022.

He was the son of Lorenzo and Grace Chewning Wheeler of Paytes.

Vivian served in the Army for two years, before he was a deputy in Fredericksburg for a short stint. He worked for Service Transport, Roadway Express, VEPCO at Lake Anna power plant and retired from Yellow Freight. He also worked for several other small companies and enjoyed talking about his truck driving days. Vivian loved the Lord, being in his garden, working outdoors, and doing carpentry for family, friends or neighbors needing his skills. He was a devoted friend, husband, loving father, and Papa.

He was a devoted servant of the Lord! His hands helped with building two local churches, Fellowship Baptist and Thornburg Baptist. He was a member of Spotsylvania Baptist.

Survivors include sister Margery Paytes (John) of Fredericksburg, his sons Donald (Carolyn) and Kenneth Sr (Betty) of Spotsylvania, and his longtime care giver he loved as a daughter, Myra Beasley of Sparta. Vivian was Papa to five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Also too many nieces and nephews to name here.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, three brothers, Rannie (Pat), Frank (Maggie Peacher), Steven (Myrna), and one sister Joyce (Eddie Barber).

Vivian will be missed by many, but we know his wife of 69 years, Arlene welcomed him with open arms and that they are singing hymns together again.

A funeral will be held at 12pm, Wednesday February 9th, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11am-12pm. Burial will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.
