Rachel's parents are Joost Demarest and Maria Myers according to the New Jersey, Births and Christenings Index which reads:
Name: Rachel Demarest
Gender: Female
Christening Date: 9 Jan 1743
Christening Place: Dutch Reformed Church, Schraalenburg, Bergen,New Jersey
Father's Name: Joost Demarest
Mother's name: Maria Meyer
FHL Film Number: 874335
And "The Demarest family: David Des Marest of the French Patent on the Hackensack and his descendants" also lists Rachel's parents as Joose Demarest and Maria Meyer.
The Demarest book listed as the authority to the parentage of Rachel Demaree-Ryker-Van Cleave (of which I have a copy) has listed two Rachel cousins both born near the same time. The information on each was inadvertently switched during the writing of the book. This Rachel is the daughter of Samuel Demaree and his cousin Leah Demarest. Samuel changed the spelling of his surname from Demarest to the same French pronounced Demaree. He migrated with his family to Pennsylvania (where Rachel was born) and then to Kentucky. Land litigation documents filed after his death lists his daughter Rachel and husband John Van Cleave. The two sons, Peter and David, parented by Rachel and John Van Cleave are named for Rachel's grandfathers, the fathers of Samuel and his wife Leah.
