She was the daughter of James Henry Davis and Sarah Ann Cannon. Mary Jane was the oldest of their 16 children.
Mary Jane and Joshua had nine (9) children: Bessie Ethel, Albert Edwin, Earl Nolan, Iva Alta, Leo Lloyd, James Freeman, Orpha Margaret, Delta Mable and Lena Viola Showalter.

Havana, Aug. 16 - Mrs. Mary Jane Showalter died Friday at her home in Kilbourne. Mrs. Showalter was born in
Chandlerville, May 7, 1868. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Bessie Elliott and Mrs. Iva Foutch, both of Havana; Mrs.Orpha Curry of Kilbourne, Mrs. Delta Hoke of Bartonville and Mrs. Lena Sullivan, Flushing, N. Y.; four sons, Albert Showalter of Mason City, Earl of Peoria, James and Leo of Kilbourne; five brothers; William and James Davis of Peoria, Edward, Ripley, and Bert Davis, all of Havana; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Lippert of Bath and Mrs. Bertha Hopper, Washington,Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. (D.S.T.) Monday in Kilbourne Baptist church. Rev. Carl Carpenter will officiate and burial will be in Kilbourne cemetery.
