Richard E. Moss of Stafford, Virginia passed away on May 31, 2022. Dick was born on February 13, 1936 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Violet Irene Nielsen and Eugene Franklin Moss. Dick was the first of five sons ( Leslie, Dennis, Eugene, Jr. and Bruce).
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 34 years. He became a commissioned officer in 1960 and graduated from the Airwar College in 1971. He received numerous awards and commendations during his service and achieved the rank of Colonel in the USAF. Upon retirement, he was awarded the commission of Brigadier General from The California National Guard.
Dick continued to serve his country in his employment at the Bureau of Indian Affairs and an office with the Department of State.
Airman First Class Moss met the love of his life, Marva Mefferd during his tour at McClellan Air Force Base. Dick and Marva were married June 30,1957 in Sacramento, CA. He is survived by Marva, his children; Craig (Lisa); Chris (Judy); Curtis (Kim) and his grandchildren: Ashley Moss, Jordan (Melissa) Moss, Ryan Renaud, Colin (Jeanie) Renaud, Lauren (Josh) Brown, Caitlin (Brad) Foust, Emily Moss, CJ (Alisa) Moss, Kolleen (Joe) Lunsford, Steven Moss; 11 great grandkids and brother Les (Elaine) Moss. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Moss Renaud, on May 24, 2022.
