GLEN KAHLE BELCHER, 82 of Bluefield, WV went home to be with the Lord, Monday, July 28, 2014. Born in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Wiley Graham and Flora Franklin Belcher. He was a welder for the N&W railroad, retiring after 30-plus years of service. He served his country in the United States Army. Glen had been a member of Williams Chapel Church of Christ for over 40 years. He loved his Lord and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. He loved watching different sports, but was an avid fan of the Bluefield Beaver football teams. He filmed their games for 17 years and attended until his health would not let him do so. In his younger years, he enjoyed shooting and hunting groundhogs. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Norma Wimmer Belcher; his daughters, Glenna Belcher and Kim Gunter; brothers, Leonard, Lawrence, Fred, Jess, John and Ernest Belcher; sisters, Kathryn Belcher, Ethel Mae Lambert and Bertha Elizabeth Sargent. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Calvin Proffitt and wife Hope of Bluefield, WV and Sandra Tabor of Bluefield, WV; grandchildren, Angie Tabor Lowe, Calvin Proffitt Jr., Willie Tabor, Chrissy Gunter, Shane Gunter and Matthew Proffitt; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his supportive and loving church family who was always there for him. A service to celebrate Mr. Belcher's life will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Pastor Todd Kellison officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV. Family, friends and church family will serve as pallbearers.
