MARTIN, Richard R. "Dick" of Urbana passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2022; one day shy of his 78th birthday. Dick was born on June 3, 1944, the son of the late Garland and Amy (Gordon) Martin of Champaign County, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his siblings: Evelyn Reeser, James Martin, Donna Young, and Nancy Roberts. He will be forever cherished by his beloved wife of 57 years, Kathy (Hemmer) Martin; his daughter, Stacey (Dan) Crumley; a man that Dick considered a son and lifetime friend, Douglas (Kelly) Bowman; brother, William Martin; grandchildren: Wesley Green, Nickolas Crumley, Christopher Crumley, Dakota Crumley, Tyler Bowman, and Kaitlyn Bowman as well as his two great-grandchildren: Brantley and Riley Green. He is also survived by many numerous nieces, nephews, too many friends to count including his best friends since childhood, Marty Hess, John Vanscoy and Dave Gentis. Dick retired from Navistar after 37 dedicated years. He spent his days after retirement chauffeuring his many amazing grandchildren to school and sporting events. He also enjoyed spending his time keeping his 1963 Chevy Impala "Big Red Hot Rod" in pristine condition. Dick was a man of wisdom and an advisor to many. Throughout his life he was active in softball, golf, woodworking, and auto mechanics. Dick will truly be missed by his family and friends. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
