Elizabeth Hardy, 89, Massena. Funeral services for Elizabeth "Betty" A. Hardy, 89, of 132 Leslie Road Massena, will be held January 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Massena with the Rev. Joel T. Grigg presiding.

The Massena Rotary Club will meet as Honorary Pallbearers at 10:45 a.m. in front of St. John's Episcopal Church Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to International Rotary Foundation. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Friday (January 18, 2008) from 2-4 and7-9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. Mrs. Hardy died Monday (January 14, 2008) evening at St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena.

She is survived by a daughter, Anne Hardy of Ogdensburg; five sons, John and wife Tami Hardy of Saco, Maine, Thomas and wife Connie Hardy of Massena, Stephen Hardy of Malone, Richard and wife Gayle Hardy of Utica, and Robert Hardy of Colton; and nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was born November 11, 1918 in Cleveland, Oh, the daughter of Victor and Ann (Zeile) Easterbrook. She graduated from Deposit High School, Broome County, and Potsdam Normal School, Crane School of Music. She married John "Jack" Hardy on December 26, 1950 in Malone. Mr. Hardy predeceased her in 1987.

She taught music at Massena Elementary schools retiring in 1981. During World War II she served in the American Red Cross serving overseas as recreational director. She and her husband Jack moved to Massena in 1953.

She was very active in the Massena Rotary Club with her husband "Jack". She was named Life Honorary member of the Massena Rotary club in 1982 a Paul Harris Fellow. She was a member of the Massena Garden Club, honorary member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was active at St. John's Episcopal Church and an avid bridge player.

She was appointed temporary organist at St. John's Church for six months and then served 21 years there.
