Pamela Kay Myers, 77 of Nevada, died Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Arbor Springs Care Center in West Des Moines.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. Family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.

Pamela Kay Myers was born on May 20, 1945, in State Center, Iowa. She was the firstborn of Shirley (Durby) Myers and Cecil Myers of Nevada.

Pam was baptized, confirmed, and married in the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. She graduated in 1963 from Nevada High School. She and Dennis Whitaker were married in 1964. Together they had two daughters, Denise (Stanley) Reed of Phoenix, AZ, Jill (Tadd) Griffith of Nevada, IA.

Pam was active in the community through her church, Beta Sigma Phi, and with her children's activities.

After her divorce, Pam moved to Phoenix and lived there for over 30 years. She worked in the insurance field, was very active in her church, loved horseback riding and camping in the mountains with friends, was a caregiver to several friends and always kept in close touch with her family in Iowa through visits and phone calls.

Pam lived in Phoenix when her grandchildren were born and was fortunate to be there to watch both Katie and Grace grow up.

In 2009 Pam married longtime friend William (Bill) Howe.

In 2016 she sold her house, called her brother and said, "Bring the truck - we're moving home." And he did.

Back in Nevada she spent many of her days with Jill, her siblings, their families, and with classmates and friends. She felt like she had never left. Pam wanted you to know how grateful she was for the kindnesses she received from family, friends and others when she returned and especially during her illness.

Survivors are Denise and husband, Stan; Jill and husband, Tadd; granddaughters, Katie and Grace; sisters, Sherry (Larry) Bullock, and Cindy (Larry) Meyers; brothers, Chub (Chris) Myers, and Tim (Diana) Myers; many special nieces and nephews, classmates and friends.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Cecil M., her husband, William Howe, and her beloved dog, Bella.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA), 912 Killian Hill Rd. SW, Lilburn, GA 30047.
