Robert Calvin Carter, 65, of Plainview passed away on June 1, 2022 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ted Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Kornerstone.

Robert was born on February 19, 1957 to John and Wanda Carter. He was born and raised in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High school in 1975. He was the class President, Freshman, Sophomore and Junior year. During his senior year he became Vice President. He played on the football team and was all district middle linebacker. He attended the University of Texas in Austin then graduated from Wayland Baptist University in 1983. He married Lorrie Ann Smith on March 20, 1991. He was a newspaper reporter for the Plainview Daily Herald and as an AP writer. He also worked for the Lubbock Avalanche Journal. He then worked for IBM in Dallas for 5 years, and the cingular wireless before retiring from ATT in 2017. He sold insurance for a little while after retirement. They just moved to Plainview in 2022.

He is preceded in death by his parents; John Calvin Carter and Wanda Gayle Carter.

He is survived by his wife; Lorrie Ann Carter; two daughters, Shannon Keller and husband Christopher of Carrolton, Texas and Susan Kathleen Baum and husband Seth of McKinney, Texas; one son, David Michael Carter of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; one brother, John David Carter and wife Karen of Bloomfield, Michigan; multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
