Billy Ulmer Hanna, 80, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at his home.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 2PM at Georgetown Church of Christ. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service from 1:30PM-2PM.
Mr. Hanna was born in Hemingway, SC on June 20, 1941, to the late William Troy Hanna and the late Blanche Beatrice Fulton Hanna.
He was a devoted member of Georgetown Church of Christ and a member and past president of the Georgetown Lion's Club. He was well known for his delicious red rice and sausage that he cooked for their Annual Fish Fry. In his free time, Mr. Hanna enjoyed NASCAR racing, Gamecock Football, and cooking for family, friends, and church fellowships.
Mr. Hanna is survived by three children, Anne Marie Hanna Braxton and her husband Freddie of Georgetown, Gwen Morris Moore and her husband Joe of New London, NC, David Byron Morris and his girlfriend Deborah Seale of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Brianna Woods and her husband Kevin, Edward Moore and his wife Samantha, Justin Moore and his wife Jamie, Joel Morris; nine great grandchildren, Remmi Cullen Woods, Case Ryker Woods, Easton Moore, Olivia Coe, Elijah Morris, Ava Braxton, Marlea Braxten, Phillip Cooper, Bracsten Cooper; two sisters, Shirley Hanna Cherry of Murfreesboro, TN and Myrtle Tanner of NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hanna was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Norma Gene Butler Morris Hanna; three siblings, Juanita Poston, Iva Neil Hanna, and Troy "Little Troy" Ervin Hanna; two brothers-in-law, Glenn Cherry and Ted Morris; a beloved nephew, William "Trey" Holt III; a son-in-law, Dale Lyn Elkins.
