It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Rosa "Rose" M. Garza-Hernandez. She was a beautiful light in this world and will be deeply missed by many.

Rose was born on September 8, 1957, to Tomas and Angelica Garza in Kingsville, Texas, where she spent her childhood years before travelling around the U.S. and Germany, and then finally settling back down in Texas to be close to her family.

Rose had declining health issues over the past few years and in May of 2022 she was moved to comfort care at Cornerstone in Round Rock. Rose shared with her family that she was ready for her final journey to God and was called to Heaven on May 5, 2022, at the age of 64 years old. At the time of her passing Rose was being held by her husband and daughters and surrounded by her brothers and sisters as well as other friends and family members as she took her final journey home.

Rose is survived by her husband, Ralph Hernandez. Daughters: Christina Macenfish (Joseph), granddaughters, Leilani and Marina, Sarah Cothren (Brian), Stephanie Pedraza (Paul), grandsons, Loyal and Lyric. Son: Sean Cothren. Brothers and sisters: Jose Garza (Diana), Cynthia Hernandez, Jane Castillo (David), and Anthony Garza (Liz).

We lost a generous, joyous, big hearted soul. A conversationalist, a Facebook fanatic who posted many beautiful pictures and emojis that she shared with everyone and we will miss her beautiful smile and personality. Rose loved music and it always played in the background as a soundtrack for her life. Turning on the radio was the first thing that she did when she woke up in the morning and she was always posting songs to express herself or bring joy to others. Rose had beautiful, delicate handwriting and she used it to send cards on special occasions filled with bows and confetti to fill our hearts with love. Rose was also a faithful Catholic who loved God and her church. Rose spent hours in the church devoted to Eucharistic adoration and praying the rosary.

Rose loved her family with all her heart and she believed that no matter what happened you should always forgive each other, be with each other and love each other.

We have been comforted and grateful for the support of Rose's friends and family who have been on the receiving end of her loving journey. The love showering us came in the form of donations on Go Fund Me, heartfelt messages, meals and prayers.

Rest in peace, Rose. We will miss you and will always love you.

A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 17, at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2700 East University Avenue, Georgetown, TX followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. If you would like to send flowers please have them delivered to St. Helen's at the address above from 9-10 a.m. the day of the funeral.
