He was born in Scranton on Aug. 25, 1951, the son of the late David J. Royce Sr. and Edith May Zech Jones.
David was a member of the Brick United Methodist Church, Duryea. He attended Scranton schools.
He worked for Sandone Tire, Scranton, for two decades and retired from Service Tire Truck Center, Jessup, after 22 years of employment. He loved his job at Service Tire Center and his co-workers.
David was an avid fisherman. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping with his family and friends and his yearly trips to Disney World with his wife.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather brother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Nathaniel David.
David is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marilyn Hapersberger Royce; his children, David Royce, Scranton; Tracy Edwards and her husband, Jason, Delaware; Laura Royce, Moosic; and Robert Bird, Duryea. Also surviving are his sisters, Carol Young and her husband, Duane, Scranton; Sandra Calvey, Scranton; and Florence Eldridge, Scranton; many grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with the Rev. Sharon Dietz, of the Brick United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to service time. David's family requested attendees follow a causal dress code if attending services. Interment will be privately held at the Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
