Mr. Joseph W. Bowdoin October 18, 1914 - January 15, 2010 Mr. Joseph W. Bowdoin was born October 18, 1914 in Monroe County, Georgia to James and Florence Byars Bowdoin. He graduated from Mary Persons High School in Forsyth, Georgia. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1993 and graduated from the Naval Aeronautical School of Meteorology. After an honorary discharge from the Marine Corps in 1939, he began work with Eastern Air Lines in Atlanta, Georgia. On June 11, 1940 he married Frances Denham from Sarasota, Florida. They lived in East Point, Georgia and had two daughters. In 1969, he was transferred to Miami, Florida, and continued working for Eastern until his retirement in 1975 when he and his wife retired to Barnesville, Georgia where they lived until 1998. At that time they moved to the Baptist Inn in Stockbridge, Georgia. After his wife's death in 2005, the Baptist Inn was moved to Palmetto, Georgia and renamed The Baptist Manor. He lived there until his death. He is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Bowdoin-Aynsley of Atlanta, and Linda L. Bowdoin and her husband, Phillip A. Winterfeldt of Washington, D.C.; one granddaughter, Meredith W. Cornett and her husband Ethan F. Perry, and their daughter, Charlotte, of Duluth, Minnesota; one sister, Gladys B. Akins and her husband Ralph Akins of Griffin; great grandchild, Charlotte C. Perry; and many nieces and nephews.
