She was born Nov. 24, 1923, to Arthur and Mary L. (Shockley) Lohmeyer in St. Louis.
She was united in marriage to Melvin L. Smith Dec. 30, 1945, in Owensville.
Evelyn was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Owensville where she was very active and taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed shopping, canning when she was able, traveling and collecting angels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary; husband, Melvin; daughter Cheryll Smith in infancy; and brothers, Reginald and Arthur Lohmeyer Jr.
She is survived by her children, Lois Foster and husband Jimmy of Troy and Bryan Smith and wife Shirlee of Washington; grandchildren, Andrea Kluesner of St. Charles, David Smith of Washington and Diana Stone and husband Jerry of Villa Ridge; and by 10 great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, June 6 from 9-11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Owensville.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. David Roth officiating. Burial will be in Owensville City Cemetery.
