Robert L. Daws, 80, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born July 27, 1927 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Arthur and Edna (Johnson) Daws. He was united in marriage December 31, 1946 in Mountainberg, Arkansas, to Mardell Leslie. Robert served his country proudly in the United States Navy during WWII, aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid, operating the radar and radio. He was employed with Sohio Petroleum for 33 years and British Petroleum for 3 years before retiring in 1986. He enjoyed golfing, flying model airplanes and traveling with Mardell in their motor home throughout the United States and Canada. He was an active member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church. He was a kind and gentle man always finding the best in everyone he met. He is survived by his wife, Mardell of the home; one son, Robert Daws II of Durant, OK; two daughters, Frances Bowman of OKC and Connie Smith and her husband G.P. of Kingston, OK; one sister, Virginia Pate of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Neil Daws. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 19, 2008, in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Resthaven Gardens.
