Richard was the oldest of five children. He grew up helping his grandparents on the family farm in St. Anthony and in Island Park where he developed his life-long love for nature and specifically the Island Park area. He spent many weekends year after year in Island Park with his children, grandchildren and extended family, camping, riding four-wheelers and sitting by camp fires telling stories. After graduating from Bonneville High School and working a variety of jobs, he worked for 46 years at his career at Saving Center Grocery Stores in Idaho Falls. Richard loved the people he worked with and was a hard and loyal worker. Richard and Marrian loved to be together and spend time traveling, bowling and watching their families grow. Later in life, they served a Humanitarian Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Richard served in several positions, including counselor and ward clerk in the bishopric. Survivors beside Marrian included: brothers Mike (Verla) and Steve (Joy) Bird; children Pam (Kent) Morris, Kevin (Lynette) Bird, Stacy (Dell) Dye, Jennifer (Paul) Schadegg, Gary (Carol) Foster, Brad (Kris) Foster, Mark (Denise) Foster, James (Alisha) Foster and Julie (Justin) Wright; 32 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Richard was loved by all and in his final days was cared for by his family. Marrian never left his side and had help from several family members and children. Also precedied by brother Vernon (Jean) and sister Marva (Gordon). Funeral services held Friday, June 10th at Idaho Falls North Stake Center at 955 Memorial Drive. Bishop David Beck officiated
