It is with great sadness that we share that Mark Stuart Thompson, aged 52, died at CHSLD Champlain on November 24, 2021, from a long battle with a pituitary tumor (adenoma).
Pre-deceased by his mother Joyce Smitheman, his father Kenneth Thompson and his sister Sherry Mercier. Family was always a priority for Mark, and he rarely missed an opportunity to get together with them, often arranging to meet up with a niece or a cousin if he happened to be in the neighborhood.

Mark was born at Charles Lemoyne Hospital in Greenfield Park and lived his whole life in this same town. In high school he met his beloved wife Sherri and in 1992 they married and bought a home on the 'new' side of the Park where they raised their family.

Mark embodied the best of being a Parker. For many years he volunteered at the local Terry Fox run until finally taking over as co-ordinator in 2017. He also ran the annual shoe box collection for Operation Christmas Child at the Greenfield Park Baptist Church where he was a Deacon.

He could be found at almost every town event with his camera in hand, making sure that the memories of the day were preserved and posted on Facebook, often even before the event was finished.

In 1994 he started his career at Computershare where he worked for nearly 3 decades. He was a valued employee and will be missed by his colleagues and clients.

If Mark had a motto, it would have been "Carpe Diem" – seize the day. He was always ready for the next adventure, with his camera in hand, and everyone invited along for the ride….be it, kayaking, driving to see the snow geese, going for a walk, fishing, catching frogs, or driving for bagels at midnight.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada or to the Terry Fox Foundation.
