Professional Baseball Player. From July 17, 1964 until June 7, 1965 he played first base for the Philadelphia Phillies (1964) and the Los Angeles Angels (1965). When the Angels assigned him to Triple-A Seattle, Shockley refused to report and retired from the game at age 23. In his two year MLB career he made 28 hits, 3 home runs and had a batting average of .197 in 51 games. After leaving baseball he worked in construction and coached youth baseball. Prior to his professional career he graduated from Georgetown High School in 1960, where he was an elite athlete and starred in baseball, football, and basketball. He was inducted into the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame in 1998.
