Carol Pope, an Elect Lady, joined her sweetheart, Wayne, on May 30, 2022. Her ever-present smile and kindness will be acutely missed. Carol opened her heart and her home to family, friends and the missionaries; and fed anyone that would accept her invitation. She lived by the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Carol was born to Clara Ida Thomas and Wayne Gilmore Hulburt on September 3, 1939. She grew up in Rapid City, SD and Maeser, UT. Carol and Wayne LaVel Pope were married June 3, 1957, in the Salt Lake Temple and made their home in North Salt Lake where they raised their family. Carol is survived by her children: Dan (Diane), Mike (Debbie), Ron (Maree), Cheryl (Layne Packer) and Gary (Emily); 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Carol is also survived by five sisters and their spouses. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, and one grandson, Benjamin.

Carol served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in the Suva, Fiji temple with her husband. After his passing, she served in the Utah North, Ogden mission. Carol was a temple worker in Bountiful, UT. She served in many church callings throughout her life. She was a Primary President, a Compassionate Service Leader and a member of the Relief Society Presidency. She was a den mother and 11-year-old Scout Leader. Carol helped all four of her boys earn their Eagle Scout rank. She taught her children that education was important and led by example, being a life-long learner.

Carol used her cooking skills as a school lunch worker and manager in the Davis School District for 15 years. She was honored to prepare meals for the children, though she was sad to leave when the school district moved food services to a central location.

Carol loved traveling to see new places and try new things. She bravely and excitedly traveled to many foreign lands, including Guatemala, Israel, Peru, Bolivia, Fiji, England, Scotland, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and the Caribbean. She traveled all over the USA to visit family, meet new grandchildren and attend weddings and funerals.

Funeral Services for Carol will be held Friday June 17, 2022 at 11:00am at the Orchard 5th Ward Chapel (3599 South Orchard Drive Bountiful, Utah). Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday June 16, 2022 from 6:00pm ~ 8:00pm and Friday from 9:30am ~ 10:30am all at the church. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery next her husband Wayne, under the Direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
