Services for Francis A. "Bud" Lenich, 79, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Louis J. Lamb officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A vigil service is scheduled for 7 tonight in Harvey-Douglas Chapel.

Lenich was born Aug. 28, 1920, at Reading, Pa., to Frank E. and Marie T. Albright Lenich. He died June 18, 2000, following an extended illness.

During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps as a B-17 turret gunner in the 384th Bomber Squadron of the 8th Air Force. He flew 30 missions over Germany while stationed in England. He was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, EAME Medal with Bronze Battle Star, Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal with three Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross and Distinguished Unit Badge. He was a member of American Legion, VFW, and St. Mary's Catholic Church where he served on the parish council, representative to the Little Council and coordinator for Loaves and Fishes.

He married Bernice Cosby Dec. 11, 1949, at Corinth, Miss., and moved to Ardmore in 1966. He retired from Glen Oaks Industries in 1987.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Teresa Carpenter, Conroe, Texas, and Sue Hibbs, Durant; a sister, Charlotte Stamn, Wyomissing, Pa.; and four grandchildren; He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Thomas; and two sisters, Mary Weidner and Anna Lenich.

Bearers will be Kevin Carpenter, Bill Parker, Jim Fiala, Lynn Worthen, Michael McPherson and Charles Tanner. Honorary bearers are Casey Hibbs, W.L. McCulloh, Fred Innis and Corinthian Sunday school class members.

Memorials may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice.
