The former Marcella Hill was born Nov 3 1902 the 11th of 12 children of the late John and Mary Simpson Hill For 49 years she served as a teacher and principal in both Catholic and public schools of Missouri and southern Illinois In the Diocese ofBelleville she taught at the former St Elizabeth Grade School East St Louis and in Albers Damiansville and St Rose In 1970 Sister Claudia began a second career as a librarian setting up the library at St John the Baptist School Red Bud and a patient library at St Clement Hospital Red Bud
