Born April 24, 1926, in Boston, Indiana, to John and Osie Houser Turner, Bertie was a life-long resident of Richmond. She was a graduate of Richmond High School and worked as a clerk at Knollenberg's and Sargent's Wallpaper and Paint. Bertie enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, and she loved her grandchildren dearly and was anticipating the arrival of a great-grandchild.
Survivors include her son, Scott (Beth) Bell of Muncie, Indiana; three beloved grandchildren, Alexandra Lee (Chuckie) Hyde of Fort Worth, Texas, Sydney Elizabeth (Ben) Sperry of Austin, Texas, and Collin James Bell (Claire Myers) of Dallas, Texas; a special niece, Phyllis Wray of Richmond; nieces, Tami Harkleroad and Carrie Lynn (John) Matthews; nephews, Jerome Turner, Michael (Jennifer) Turner, Terry Harkleroad (Tim Orr), Nick (Jone) Walker and their families; long-time partner Donald Rahn of Dayton, Ohio; dear friend, Jane; cousins and many other friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bell; parents; brothers, Jerry, Charles, Fred, Paul and Vernon Turner; sisters, Dorothy May Walter, Charmie Bricker, Jeanette (Charles) Kiger, and Elsie Markley.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff at Forest Park Health Campus and AseraCare Hospice for their care of Bertie.
Visitation for Bertha L. Bell will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Cliff Nunn officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
