Kelly Lloyd Cartwright, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022 following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 68 years old and the son of Herschel and Zora (Neal) Cartwright.

Kelly graduated from Walter P. Chrysler High School in 1972, where he was active in basketball, cross country and track. He then attended Ball State University and earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Biology. He was employed at RCA, Metaldyne and Saint Gobain.

Kelly was passionate about sports and music. His favorite teams were the University of Michigan and the Indianapolis Colts. He loved all music, and he loved to sing and dance. His favorite holiday was Halloween, he would decorate his porch extensively and dress up as Michael Meyer. He drew a crowd who thoroughly enjoyed his performance.

Kelly loved his family and was very proud of them all. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Cara (Jake Thomas) Ponder, Kendra (Kyle Strube) Thomas and Kelsa Cartwright; his grandchildren, Madyson Hicks, Brenndon Thompson, Alora England, Shaela Creech and Drake England; brother, Bruce Cartwright; sister, Carol Bovender; and his very best friend and caretaker, Brenda Wright.

In addition to his parents, Kelly was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Lloyd & Audrey Cartwright and maternal grandparents, Frank & Rosie Neal.

Kelly requested, "Remember me with smiles and laughter or don't remember me at all".

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Danny Douglas. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to New Castle Fire Department, Shop With A Fireman, 229 North Main Street, New Castle, IN 47362.
